5,000 extra parking spaces at Brisbane Airport's new car park

With the opening of Brisbane Airport's massive new 5,000-space car park, business travellers parking at Queensland's main airport will see new options including valet and premium parking.

But keep an eye out for signs, as the various types of parking offered have shifted location.

  • Short-term parking ("PARKSHORT") (up to 4 hours): use the new multi-level car park (P1). Temporary outdoor car parks: additional PARKSHORT spaces available until the end of February 2012.
  • Long-term parking ("PARKLONG") (over 4 hours) use the existing multi-level car park (P2).
  • Valet parking ("PARKVALET") is now on Level 3 of the new multi-level car park (P1).

The new car park is the latest part of the BNE domestic terminal upgrade to open, with levels 2-5 opening this week. The rest of the car park will open over the next few weeks.

For the latest information on what you'll find where, check the Brisbane Airport website's parking pages.

Rachel Crowley from Brisbane Airport extolled the virtues of the new car park: "When it’s finished this new car park will provide world-class park-finding technology which indicates available car spaces; extra lighting; undercover walkway access to the terminal; safety and security (CCTV cameras); parking for people with disabilities; 24-hour management; and express entry/exit ramps as well as online booking."

"Thanks to the additional capacity we will have for short-term parking, we can now offer a number of new car parking products and long-term parking deals" Crowley continued, promising "more choice and options tailored to their parking needs. These include online booking, PARKVALET and PARKPREMIUM."

I'm so glad this is finally open, I only fly out of Brisbane 2 or 3 times a month, but I really didn't enjoy the 15min walk from the temp carpark to the Virgin Australia Terminal.
