A 'new' hotel for Singapore: the Rendezvous Grand

Another new hotel for Singapore? Well, of course! If there's anything the Merlion City needs more than another shopping mall it's another hotel.

That said, the Rendezvous Grand Hotel isn't exactly a new hotel.

Perched on a prime corner of Bras Basah Road (the first curve after Orchard Road stops being Orchard Road), just past Dhoby Ghaut MRT station and the Picturehouse Cinema, regular visitors to Singapore may well have passed by it every day back when it was the plain old and less-grand Rendezvous Hotel.

But an $18 million refurbishment certainly seems to warrant the 'Grand' appellation, with the Rendezvous Grand Hotel Singapore's almost 300 rooms and suites all upgraded with modern custom-designed furniture, 42-inch flat screen tellies and WiFi.

The Rendezvous Hospitality Group – Rendezvous Hospitality already has hotels in most Australian capital cities under both the Rendezvous and Marque brands – is also making a play for the meetings and conventions business with everything from a 3500 square-foot Straits Ballroom for conferences and keynotes to a 'telepresence' videoconferencing suite.
