China Eastern boosts London Heathrow flights

China Eastern is increasing its flights from Shanghai to London Heathrow from late October, making the route a near-daily service.

On Wednesdays from October 29 2014, MU551 is wheels up at 10:55am from Shanghai’s Pudong Airport, reaching London at 4:05pm on the same day.

Returning, MU552 pushes back at 5:55pm to reach Shanghai at 1:25pm on the following afternoon.

While not possible as a same-day connection, Qantas frequent flyers could travel onwards to London after a Shanghai stopover – possible as a visa-free transit.

Reaching Shanghai, Qantas passengers arrive either on QF129 from Sydney or on QF341 from Melbourne: a Qantas codeshare flight operated by China Eastern.

Frequent flyers could then earn Qantas Points – although not status credits – onwards to London.

The new weekly flights can now be booked through the China Eastern website:

Served by an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, the airline’s Shanghai-London flights offer business travellers both business class and economy.
