Sorry hit the button to early before I typed...
Anyway my question is regarding how Virgin Australia allocate there business class seats on non business class routes. So each week I fly retun from Brisbane to Rockhampton and I normally try to choose a full Virgn Australia service instead of there Skywest product. I'm just wondering who gets the business class seats on legs like this ? As they do not sell this product due to the short length of the flight. However the flight always turns out longer thanks to Brisbanw airport but that another story haha.
So would they be allocated to platinum members or gold ? As I saw a traveller seated up there only had a velocity silver card attached to his bad... And I'm silver and I do get to sit there haha...

I fly Launceston-Melbourne (not a business class route) a fair bit with Virgin Australia, and ever since reaching Gold I've been able to access the business class seats. When i was a Silver member I tried (when checking in) to get Row 1 or 2, but the check in and lounge staff said that as I was Silver, they couldn't physically get their system to put me in a business class seat (it showed the seats as unnavailable).
Now as a Gold member, I always check in through the counter at the airport, and ask for Row 1 or 2, as these seats for me are shown as taken when checking in online or on my phone (I presume they are allocated to Platinum members first).
As for now, It's always worth asking at check in if there are any seats in the first 2 rows.. otherwise Row 3 on Virgin Australia is still pretty good with its massive amount of legroom.
Ahhhh thanks Kspiling for clearing that up for me :)I just have been wondering about this for a while now and haven't have the time to ask the virgin staff at the airport about it Hopefully one day soon ill get gold haha...
