Is it right that Qantas is starting a direct HBA > BNE flight? Jetstar does a HBA > OOL route and Virgin Australia does a HBA > BNE route. Do Qantas have plans of competing with Virgin Australia for this?

I haven't seen any recent reference for Qantas planning anything like this.  There was a press release back in 2010, but I don't think they ever actually ran that route.

As long as Qantas does the right thing by its shareholders and the travelling public by not going bankrupt as a result, are we to question whether such a route is "right" or not?

I think they need to trial some routes for three months or so to assess them and the make a decision on whether to keep it.

In all seriousness, the consequences of Qantas going under would have a huge effect on the world. Wouldnt want to be too negative... I think it would be worse than the day Ansett went out.
