Yes I saw one at MEL yesterday... but I am pretty sure they are destined for life at Arizona once 787's come onboard.

NZ's 744s are on rapid exit, unlike QF's 744s which will soldier on.

Personally, I'd like to see those ER's live a while longer. Not that old and a great plane. But if QF drops to the 9 newer refurb 747's this year, there will need to be some routes lose a 747 service.

Oh yes. The RRs need to go, but the GEs and ERs should stay a bit longer.

I still say QFi should have bought more A330-300s and put the A380 seats in all of them (J/W/Y).

I highly doubt that would happen, Qantas have a monopoly running with SAA for most Australians and Kiwis. Almost every JNB flight I've been on has been full too

Other JNB options include Air Mauritius out of Perth with VA connections to the East Coast.
