Service on DJ569 SYD-PER in Business

Hi, I will be flying DJ569 in business class soon and was wondering what sevrice is provided. Previously the coast to caost service on A330 left around 6pm and thus offered a full dinner (including trolley service for desert). Since the new timing is at 8pm I am afraid they have cut back. Does anybody know? Their flight which now leaves at around 6pm is on a 737-8 and from memory service is way less in terms of food and beverage.

They should offer the same full dinner service as the earlier flight. A lot of people will be travelling straight to the airport from work, and the food offered in the lounge isn't really enough in general.

Certainly QF serves a full dinner service on their flights to PER at similar timings (7:25pm from SYD, 8:15pm from MEL), so I think it's safe to assume VA will as well.

DJ569 is normally the A330. Great dinner, arrive hungry!

flew both Per - Syd and Syd -Per on the A330 with Virgin. The flight to Sydney was great with only 3 pax in 27 seat business cabin. Poor service on return, the staff were not very attentive and even forgot to serve the guy (in the dreaded middle seat) next to me. Shoddy service, was offered a drinkl with dinner,m then nothing else until coffee. Bris - Per on a 737 was even worse. Tried to get a spirit with dry ginger ale but alas - 'we have ginger beer - is that the same?' was the reply. Meal was so so and there were only a few DigEplayers on the aircraft that worked. The response from the cabin crew was that the ground staff really didn't understand that the airline has changes and near enough isn't good enough. I look foward to them getting it right and getting close to the same standard as Qantas business.

Thanks for your responses!

@mitchimus - When did you fly?

I flew the A330 service last November (left around 6pm from Syd) and service was great, only 5 in C class and attentive service and outstanding meals (done the trip with QF in C as well and meals were way less, let alone seat comfort etc). Flight back in Nov was on a 737 and meal service was mediocre but flight attendant made up for it with outstanding service (and I had two bottles of a good red wine helping to smooth the ride).

Hope that I will get better service than you had, judging on your comment it was not that great! I selected seats and it seams that DJ569 is on new A330 and even flight back at 12.30 in the afternoon (forgot flightnumber) is on new A330, so that is a good proespect (when selecting seats no middle seats shown and a total of 24 seats as oposed to 27).

I flew late April. The crews were good apart from the Syd - Per leg when they appeared to be all at sea and not really know what they were doing. Will def be giving them another go...especially on the new A330 - like the amenity kits - nice touch
