Does anyone know what it's like when you travel very close to your status expiry and you end up getting your points / status credits credited after the status year is lapsed?

I was just wondering as I am going to get QFF Gold once I a recent JAL flight I took on from LA to Tokyo 16 Dec is credited (still not yet as of today...) The only thing is my status year ends at the end of December. What happens if it is not credited by the end of the month and I have to make a claim? Will that cause alot of trouble getting QFF to move me up to Gold?

Has anyone been in a similar situation before, where you traveled very close to your status year expiry and the status credits only came in when your new status year started (esp on a partner airline)? Does it count to the new year or the old one since the trip was made in the previous status year?

I really want to know because that is the only reason I took JAL (and paid quite a fair bit more) on this recent trip!

Thanks so much everyone and Merry Christmas!

If you think that your points will be credited after the expiry of the status year, I would call the QF frequent flyer people before the end of the status expiry year to let them know to backdate the status credits to the date when you actually took the flight. As your actual flight would have been before the status expiry date, your would be legally entitled (I think) to have the credits credited on the date of the actual flight.
