When you are close to maintaining your status with VA/QF or progressing to the next tier and are earn status credits to put you over the line, do the surplus status credits earned count towards maintaining that tier level for the following year?

For example, you are 20 SC short of maintaining platinum with QFF but due to take return J class SYD-ADL which will earn 80 SC, will there be 60 SC counted towards maintaining platinum the next year? Or will it start from zero?

Is the case with VA similar?

At your anniversary, SC get reset to zero.  Whatever you earn during that year is your balance with no surplus going towards next year.  QF offers staus bonus of 8000 QFF points for ever 500 SC earned, up to 4 times a year.  There are status bonus levels at 2400 SC, and additional bonus at various levels for platinum 1.

Thanks for your reply. What about VA? If you are platinum with 780 SC and 20 SC shy of maintaining platinum but take a flight worth 80 SC, will that extra 60 SC count towards maintaining platinum status for the following year?

No. It will however count towards your ability to gift status. If you earn enough status credits above what it takes to mantain to earn gold/platinum you can gift that to another velocity member.
