Hi Everyone, I am flying from Sydney with a combination of Lufthansa (operated by Qantas to Hong Kong and then Lufthansa 748 000 to Frankfurt ) to Frankfurt Germany, and then on a seperate ticket onto Turkey (Istanbul) with Turkish Airlines (Airbus A330) later in the year. Have booked a launch special with Lufthansa's new Premium economy. Does anyone have any views/thoughts on best seats and or service and weather its worth paying for the lounge access (about $30 euro each) for layover in Hong Kong and in Frankfurt and Hong Kong on way home?
Also I am a bronze QF frequent flyer member so will earn miles on the Sys/Hkg/Syd sectors, but wont get points on Lufthansa and Turkish operated flights, can anyone tell me what is best Star Aliance Frequent flyer to join inorder to get points?
I was thinking maybe Air New Zealand or Thai. I had SQ cancel my membership as I was mostly flying QF and It had been inactive for 2 years a few years ago, so was a little reluctant to join SQ again.
Nowdays able to fly anyone, and wondered your thoughts,
Thanks

I love 748, pity that among major players only Lufthansa has them.

BTW I am not so sure that you earn something on QF flight because it marketed by Lufthansa unless of course you did not purchased it separately.

Mind if I ask how much your launch special with LH premium economy cost?
I just had a quick look for my planned Europe trip in May-June and found quotes of around $3176 in premium economy on CX and LH. At that price it's reasonably tempting, though the photos of LH premium economy don't look especially great.

I don't mind. Fare was just under $3400, but fare was dependent on final destination in Europe and included my more expensive star aliance connection on Turkish airlines ( I chose Turkish as they had better departure times and gave me a shorter layover in Frankfurt on way home). Istanbul was one of the more expensive destinations along with London.
When I booked Frankfurt/Munich and a few other central European cities were $2999.
Your price seems like a good deal but being honnest I am also a little nervous about the Lufthansa premium economy seat. I was hoping someone might have travelled in it and been able to advise on best seats, etc.
