Wait for the next Jetstar sale to Newcastle and tack on the Starter Plus bundle. This'll be the cheapest way to earn 5 status credits out of Brisbane.

It's not possible to stack that as a day return ex-BNE on every day, though. It'd need some playing around with but it shou;d work out quite cheaply.

A quick search reveals that it is possible to do it for $167 on 01 Jun 2015.

BNE 1225 NTL 1340 - $69, then add Plus Bundle ($19)

NTL 1655 BNE 1810 - $79 no bundle

At $167, it should work out cheaper than flying to HVB and coaching it back. Obviously, you wouldn't need luggage.

This sounds hilarious on the face of it, but at $115 on a full Red e-Deal, it's not bad. It's getting back that's a bit trickier.

They would have made the 5 status but they booked a Jetstar flight upto TSV and a Qantas flight back (they otherwise would have made it)

It does not allow on the Qantas Booking page it give me the JQ PNR and says go to JQ but then JQ says it can't find the booking

Call QF ("for domestic flights" >> "to make or change a booking"); if that fails call JQ (good luck).

If not already a member join woolworths / qantas rewards program and spend few $$ at woolies

They need status credits, not points!
