Upgrade to premium for money for starter. You cannot upgrade for points certain sale economy tickets, period. And unless you have high QFF status do not bank on this upgrade - you WILL fly economy.

You could hope you get a Bid Now Upgrade invitation from Qantas in the weeks prior to your departure, but I wouldn't count on it. Basically with Economy Sale fares 99% of the time you will fly in whY.

Thanks no harm in asking. I never booked the fare so I didn't get any input. I have seat 80k as a backup anyway.
