Any update on the international routes the new fitted Qantas business class is being flown. I have a trip to HKG and China coming up in May and the Qantas website is still showing a 747 flying the route.

Qantas has said the priority is getting consistent product to SIN first, then it will roll out to other destinations. Given it's about a month per refurbished aircraft it may have the A330-300 flying to Hong Kong by this time (they've yet to confirm HKG is the next target destination but it appears they are leaning that way. However, given they have the much larger 747 on this route (with has a greater number of seats) right now, I don't think they'll swap it out unless load is looking light in the week or two before departure. More likely MEL-HKG will get refurbed A330-300 before SYD does.

From AusBT's article of 17 Feb 2015 "Qantas build A330 Rollout..."

A second international A330-300 jet is expected to begin flying by the end of March, which will see the Sydney-Singapore QF81/82 and Melbourne-Singapore (QF35/36) flights both boasting the new Business Suites on a full-time roster rather than sharing the same jet across alternate days.

After Singapore, Hong Kong is shaping up to be the next city on Qantas’ roadmap for its upgraded Airbus A330 fleet.

“Our focus is on Singapore and getting penetration on one route so customers will know they’re going to get that product every time” Kylie Morris, Qantas’ Head of Creative Development and Customer Experience, told Australian Business Traveller last month. “We’ll then look for penetration on other routes as the numbers (of aircraft) allow us.”

“Hong Kong is another important market for us” Morris said, “and we have aircraft flying there every day from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.”

I'm flying to HKG too on the Queen of the Skies. Don't mind it as they are a less common sight at the airport these days. Will miss them when all the 747-400 go into retirement! Flying in the secluded upped deck on in the front nose cabin is something you can't experience on any other plane.

Prepare to be flying a 747.  You may get lucky if QF upgrade the flight at an A380 (as they do every now and then) but there is close to zero chance for an A330 to replace the 747 on syd to hkg by May this year. At least it'll probably have sky bed Mk2.

If and when QF replace the 747 to HKG with A330's,  they'll need to operate more than 7 weekly services to replace capacity.

They announced that the new BNE-NRT would have the new seats when it starts in August.

We are booked on QF29 in the second week of June, and the seatmap for this flight shows the new layout, so here's hoping.
