I usually fly qantas in australia, but needed to book Hobert to brisbane with jetstar. I used my qantas app to do this on my ipad while travelling . The result : no real access to be able to manage my booking from either qantas or jetstar. Qantas tell me that had i booked from a PC , i would have been redirected to the jetstar site to make the booking. as it is , there is a 'flaw' in the qantas app on phone or ipad that lets you make bookings directly with jetstar that you then cant manage ( their words). what i actually want to do is add a bundle to my jetstar bookings so that i have a better service and credit status points etc. This appears impossible with both ends telling me it cant be done due to the nature of the booking. is this an old issue or is there a way through ?

Weird. I wouldn't have thought that the mechanism you book your flights through would affect your ability to manage your booking through the RetreiveBooking page on Jetstar (booknow jetstar com). I would try ringing Jetstar (and Qantas if you get the same strange answer) again, because it's a bit unbelievable that they can't interact with a booking (even if the computer says no to you).
