it would depend if you purchased a sale or flex fare as to the number of points. if its a sale fare, you are looking at 20,000 points, with a flex fare being 10,000 points to upgrade. Although getting an upgrade on these flights is almost impossible unless you hold platinum or gold ff status with qantas, even then it is quite unlikely

Hayden's numbers are spot on and his advice on the chance is also, are slim to none even with high status which it doesnt sound like you have travelling 20 days a year
