QF Business Lounge or EK Lounge at MEL T2?

Hi guys,

I am travelling on EK from MEL to SIN on a QF Flight Number. I am wondering if the EK lounge in MEL or the QF Business Lounge is better?

Given where the EK Lounge is with a view etc i am leaning towards EK but how is food and drink in the EK vs QF lounge.

I am a QF Gold FF so can't get into the QF First Lounge.

Thanks

I'd go for the Emirates lounge – you'll find Veuve as opposed to the Seppelt sparkling of the Qantas lounge, decent food, chocolate Lindt balls galore, and of course a view of the tarmac.

They're right next to the Veuve...

(This photo is from Emirates' Brisbane lounge, and you'll find a similar quantity in Melbourne too.)

Just thought an airline who clearly states their menu is Halal would have non halal foods in their lounge .......probably not relevant to the original question your right.

The whole thing about halal labels is moronic.

We live in a multi-cultural society. You cannot expect to get everything your way. Deal with it! No one is shoving chocolates down your throat if you don't want it.

On the other hand the bigots who inflame tension are equally moronic to suggest more informed food labelling practices somehow results in terrorism. Goodness...how ignorant can you get?

Okay, I'm going to bring this back on-topic before things get out of hand.

Please keep responses to the original question which was whether the Qantas Int'l Business Lounge or the Emirates Lounge is the better option for Gold-grade frequent flyers in Melbourne, and how they differ.

If you have Halal meal requirements (which wasn't something mentioned in the original question), note that the hot and cold food at the buffets in Emirates' lounges normally conforms to Halal requirements, although other items available such as individually-wrapped chocolates and of course the alcohol don't (or don't necessarily) fall into the same category.

If in doubt, just ask the lounge staff.

Why not use both lounges?

I love lounge hopping when I have enough time, that way you get the best of all worlds

Yes there is a CX lounge but it's small with limited opening hours to cater for the 3xCX daily flights. The lounge is very basic compare to QF and EK lounges so I wouldn't consider it. Also as it is a code-share flight njmal is on, I don't think you can use another OW lounge anyway as EK is not OW.

From what a member on Australian Frequent Flyer told me, when I met her, she said the QFi MEL J lounge is not flash.

No windows to the outside, etc.

I have done the QFi SYD J lounge, and nothing much nice to look out at!  The F lounge is the one to aim for if you can get access.

The OP is QF SG, so, make use of the EK lounge, ...

I am trying out the QFi MEL J lounge in Oct.  I have set a low expectation, but will look forward to my F lounge in Dec.
