simcorner.com has a $40 UK sim that gives heaps of local calls and texts in the UK and unlimited data if you want to purchase before you leave OZ! I am using one at present in London and its works just fine! They also have booths in Melb and Syd International Terminals. All you do is pop them in your phone and away they go!

Yes that's a 3 mobile service and gives you 25GB data in selected countries (in addition to unlimited data in the UK). Countries include the U.S., AU, NZ, HK among others. Exceptionally good value!
