I know with soft landings with QFF you drop one status level when you dont make the required stauts points but what happens if you make none of the four Qantas/Link or Jetstar segments?

With the JQ segments, when booking you need to add the bundel to earn the QFF SC & Points, If not nothing will be credited. However if added, they will then count towards status. With Qantaslink, thoese are QF flights already and earn SC and Points and count toward status.

A "soft landing" does not dropyou to the next tier down. QF take an average of your SC's over the past 3 years to see what status you would have achieved for your next year.

As an example I flew enough in 2013 to reach Gold easily, then only flew enough the next year to keep Silver. The past year I flew very little (20SC) but was comped Silver due to the average of SC's I had earned.

So you can be gifted status even without 4 QF/JQ segments.
