I am currently a gold QFF, however am about to lose my status and drop back to Bronze.
Does anyone know what happens to my QFF card - will I be sent a bronze one without the chip in it so that I can no longer check-in with the frequent flyer card?

You should actually drop back to Silver and they'll send you a new Silver card.

This happened to me recently and Qantas dropped me to Silver (even though I certainly hadn't earned enough to qualify for Silver either!) and also gave me complimentary Qantas Club for a few extra months to soften the landing even further.

If you have flown at least 4 qualifying QF/JQ sectors in the membership year as Gold you will drop back to Silver. Check the fine print on the FF website.
