This is a long shot question...

Would anyone have any insights as to how many guests Qantas might see daily through its key domestic lounges - say Sydney and Melbourne? Both lounge and business lounge?

Between 7k and 10k on a week day? Or less than 7k...

Any insights would be appreciated.

I'm not sure that I've seen any figures ever published but you could take a stab at working it out the long way, at least for the business lounges. Count the number of Qantas domestic flights out of SYD T3 each day; work out the split between Boeing 737s and Airbus A330s; count the number of business class seats in each, and assume perhaps 80% occupancy; but then comes the 'rubbery figure' of how many Platinums flying economy would be on those flights as they also have access to the business lounge. There's really no way to estimate that. Qantas has never published a breakdown of its frequent flyer tiers so this is where you'd come unstuck. Trying to work out the same numbers for the Qantas Club lounges (QFF Gold plus Qantas Club members) would be even more of a nightmare.

Thanks Mal, I actually did that after posting! I worked on 120 flights ex-MEL and ran some scenarios around average number of business vs leisure travellers, plus an allowance for A330 flights. I came in around the 7,000 guests per day...
