Interesting thought.

Considering India found they can do a quicker long distance flight by flying with the wind as pointed out here.


I wonder then if Qantas considered doing the Melbourne to Heathrow flight east bound over south America/Mexico and cutting out Perth.
Would there be enough range to make it that far if they're flying with the wind instead of against it??

On a number of the PER to LHR flights, QF9 and QF10 have flown over Dubai, or very close to it. Qantas have also done a lot of research on these flights with wind etc, so I doubt they will be landing there very often.
