Anyone have experience with QFF Status credit earned on Emirates flights booked through Qantas. Recently flew EK return to Europe but did not earn SC and only about half points on the Dubai - Sydney sector. All other sectors I received full points and SC's. I spoke with Qantas customer service and they advised that this was because I had a stopover in Dubai (4 days) and had not transited straight though to Syd. I did notice that the boarding pass showed only EK416 but the flight was shown also as QF8416 both on Qantas's website and at the airport on the screens. Any advice would be appreciated!

If you purchased the flight under the EK flight number, you are only entitled to the points at the EK earn rate, but no SC. It is your e-ticket which will confirm what flight number you purchased the flight under.

Thanks mannej will take more care when booking next time. Must say tho just checked availability again and the same sector flight number lists a QF flight number and one of the others now only shows an EK number where it had QF before.

Bit inconsistant and confusing for the average Joe.

The current availability isn't relevant to your situation though - for future reference: QF flight number = Points + SC to QFF, EK flight number = points at EK rate only (dependent on fare bucket etc).

I have noticed that there are a number of EK flights that used to also have a QF flight number. It appears that under the new alliance agreement just commenced, There isn’t as much benefit for QF as before.

It is very important to understand this simple fact (which took me a while!!). Just because a QF flight shows up on a sector on QF website for an EK flight, you do not get status credits/points. They have to be ticketed/marketed by Qantas, which in simple terms mean the ticket has to be purchased with Qantas (on QF website or via travel agent as a Qantas ticket) to get the FULL share of status credits/points, otherwise you are left at the mercy of reduced/nil status credits/points.

Unlike alliances like One world or Star, (for that matter, even in One world, tickets booked with MH and QR do not earn great status credits/points compared to other airlines), QF/EK is very strict on “how” the ticket is booked.
Hope this helps.

It is the flight number that counts for earn purposes

Booked through Q website and there was a QF flight number assigned to the flight so It seems to be more about a QF flight number on the E-ticket and / or printed on the boarding pass as mentioned by mannej.

Have just picked up this thread, I've got a QF flight number for SYD-CHC-SYD but looks to be on EK. Will this still earn SCs at the same rate as flying on QF? It's booked through Q website and flying business.
