Air New Zealand is now flying its Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 777-200ER aircraft on the Auckland-Christchurch route until October 27th 2018, replacing the normal Airbus A320s. The A320s are all economy class but of course the Boeings have business class, and by paying NZ$30 you can select a seat in the business class cabin! Sure it's only a 90 minute flight and you still get normal meals and drinks but why not treat yourself to a much better seat for just NZ$30 more?

NZ597/NZ594 gets the Boeing 787-9 and NZ596/NZ597 is sometimes a Boeing 777-200ER.

Also, on those flights premium economy seating is available for free to Air New Zealand Koru Club members or those holding Airpoints Gold or Airpoints Elite status.

A lot of these NZ dom flights do not earn any VFF points or VFF SC due to the class the booking puts you into.

So may be time to join SQ's KF if you are going to do this.
I notice that its not every day that these wide bodies fly that AKL - CHC and then on to PER routes.
