I am driving from Southwest Colorado (as there are no non stop/direct flights to LAX. To avoid the horrendous traffic situations that occur on a regular basis in the greater LAX area. I am planning on arriving between 1200 - 1500 (3:00 PM) . Counters at Qantas do not open until 1800 (6:00 PM). Travelling in First . Any suggestions and or how to contact Qantas check in counter ? Thanks

I know the reason that they do not give out certain telephone numbers. Only reason for putting out a post is that perhaps some smart experienced traveller has a good suggestion. Yes I know about traffic in the LA area.

However, good plan for piece of mind. I arrived at LAX at 4pm traveling first and that was a little shock to the system having to wait 2 hours. Wish I’d checked the opening times first, too spoiled by checkin in Sydney and airport express in HK.Â
There were no Qantas staff at the checkin area till about 5:40 so even if you could get a number don’t think anyone is there to answer.
If you arrive early and need to kill time head to in and out and watch the planes land :)Â

I have been in touch with reservations and they told me that they have entered my requests on my reservations but you know how that works. Reason for trying to make contact is to perhaps try and arrange so that someone would be there. If you do not try than you do not know if you can be successful.

I get that, I travel US domestic all the time and on various carriers. I also have a house in SoCal and spend a lot of time here.
The two lessons I’ve learnt about flying is to allow more time before and between flights than in Australia, and to go with the flow a little. More than once I’ve found myself routed differently than booked, on different carriers than expected, and more. There are exceptions but generally you get where you need to be within a few hours of what you planned.
The LA freeways, unpredictable at best. Between 6am and 10am, or 3pm and 7-8pm forget it. Middle of the day or late evening, generally OK and real time mapping services like Apple, Google, or Waze are pretty good at predicting actual arrival times. Sirius and the like less so.
TSA restrictions mean luggage can only be checked-in 4 hours before you
travel. Additionally, the check-in counters at TBIT are closed and
unmanned before flights. Travel class and status won't assist in any
way. You'll have to hang onto your bags until just a few hours before
the first evening departures, when check-in opens.
I can understand why you are driving. The freeways are gridlocked and getting to LAX mid afternoon is sound idea. Faced this situation at DFW last week when I wrapped up my meetings early. It was a 37c/ 104f day so not much use sightseeing and getting roasted. The QF counters opened at 5.30 pm for a 9.50 pm departure. Just had to catch up on stuff in the cool of the terminal (one coffee shop and not much to do as US airports discourage much hanging around landside). Good flying.

Absolutely. Once was booked on QF12 from LAX to Sydney. This hit problems so a space found on the QF from SFO. Put on a AA flight LAX to SFO which was delayed and then cancelled. Eventually found a place on AA from LAX to SYD. Go with the flow indeed.....
So appreciate all comments and suggestions. Drive uneventful even through LA traffic. Spent couple of hrs at Alamo car rental. Quiet etc. Exactly 1800 counters open . Good shower at First Lounge, calamari, Minute Steak and some down time . Flight OK.Excellent crew and food

I would say your best bet would be to contact reservations. Airport operations generally do not publish contact details for this very reason...
