Hey Everyone,

I'm travelling Qantas Business SYD>MEL tomorrow morning. Two of my mates are also joining me but in economy.

Do I get a +1 into the lounge?

If not, can I use the two (now digital) lounge invites I have on my Qantas account?

Do you hold any status? J will get you 1 guest into the J Lounge. The digital passes are more than likely just for the QP (and not the J lounge domestically), so that may not be of use to you, unless you visit the QP instead.

If you have Platinum (or above) status you can take two guests in. If not just the one guest into the Business lounge. Of course visiting the QP instead as described by mannej above would be an option.

I don't hold any status.

Looking at the invites it states they're "General" which is "General invitations– these can be used at any domestic Qantas Club or Qantas operated International Business Lounge."

So I'm wondering if I can just turn up and state that we're a party of 3, Myself, my guest and someone using an invite on my account if that is possible?

General invites = regular Qantas Club only; does not apply to Domestic Business Lounge.

In your situation, you can

1) Enter Domestic Business Lounge and bring one guest; send other guest to Qantas Club
2) All three enter Qantas Club
3) Sweet talk Domestic Business Lounge attendants to let you all in

I'd say that you are unlikely to have much success getting everyone in to the Domestic business class lounge using the 'party of 3' approach but you can always ask.

I also believe you'll need to transfer a complimentary invite to one of your friends, have them attach it to their booking prior to arrival for it to be a valid invite. Then you can use your +1 to have all three of you access the qantas club if you want to stay together.

In my opinion there is not much difference between the QC and the domestic Business lounge in terms of the food and beverage offering in the morning. I also like having a view of the runway and international terminal which you don't get in the Business lounge.

Another option would be to have one of your friends put in for an upgrade to J. If they're successful then you could all get into the Business Lounge. Note you can't use your points to upgrade your friend unless they are an eligible family member.

Could wait a few minutes downstairs and see if anyone is heading to the business lounge, explain the situation and ask them nicely if they can take your friend along with them.

I have succeeded both in Bris and Syd. Depends on the day and time.. if it is a quiet time eg about 11am in Bris and about the same in Syd (sunday) the door staff were ok about it.
