I've booked EK433 as QF8433 and by doing so I think I'm out of luck trying to upgrade to business on this. I called Emirates for a paid upgrade (as I have booking ref. for both Qantas/Emirates) and the agent didn't believe I could. On the Qantas side, I'm 99.9% sure they can't upgrade me since it's Emirates metal but just wanted to check here first?
Yep, not possible on points or as a discounted paid upgrade/bid.
You could call Qantas and get them to do it but it'll cost the full fare difference and change fees (which could be quite costly depending on how close you are to the flight departure).
