I was just curious to know, what Qantas used to have as their lounge facilities pre the 2007 opening of the current Business and First lounges. I am also interested where it was.

At the time International was effectively split into distinct piers with separate immigration.

I recall a downstairs Qantas First Lounge, think it's now the crew prep area around that period.

I also remember the down stairs first lounge in the early 2000s, also remember it was usually fairly uncrowded

Yes, downstairs opposite gate 24 in the 1990s and most of the 2000s. It was a standard sort of Qantas Club, not nearly as nice as the current international lounges and with a much-reduced F&B offering.

In the 1970s and 1980s, it was the Captains Club and in a location in the central tower, rather than out on any of the piers.
