Was just trying to look up the number of status points for a up coming trip to India. I was looking at flying MH. For some reason, the Qantas frequent flyer calculator will only let me look up MH Economy on Syd-Kul sector, but business on the KUL to India sector. Anyone know why?

Hello Neil R, if it works for you (time wise and financially) you could look at the option of flying to Singapore from Australia through Qantas and book Singapore to India on MH. That would give you SC’s on all legs of the journey.
Typically, J fares front SIN to India in MH are on the $1K return.
So AUS - SIN on Y would be (depending on date/day/time of travel) say around $900 return and another $1000 return from SIN - IND (fare might vary for different ports in India, but not much difference) would give you 160 SC’s in total (60 return Y and 100 return J)

The claim that travellers can't earn status credits on MH is not correct.
While some fare types don't earn anything with QFF, all eligible fares earn status credits, although sometimes at lower rates on particular routes, and Australia-KUL is one of them.
Have you thought about using SriLankan via Melbourne? Not sure of the status points (not coming on the qantas calculator tonight), but reading the tables it should give you some status points.
