Curly question for hump day and just wanted thoughts....Oneworld Emerald. I'd have to get a connecting flight to the departure city regardless. Both options round out to be about $3500 return and interested to see the different opinions.

Stockholm to Auckland Singapore Airlines premium economy one way, return in business vs

Frankfurt to Auckland Cathay Pacific premium economy both directions. What would you guys do?

I need 60 status points to maintain Plat for the year but can pick this up elsewhere with a side trip if need be.

Poll: Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific?

Almost doesn't matter what airline you're flying, I wouldn't pass up business one way so Singapore Airlines gets my vote - particularly if you can pick up those 60 SC elsewhere (maybe partially on the connecting flights)

Acronyms in the question, and answers, have been replaced with 'real words': this helps all readers understand what's being asked and said. We ask users to avoid abbreviations like 'J', 'Y' and so on, because your average person doesn't know what those letters mean, nor should they need to on a mainstream travel website.

If you are asking which airline is best i would say Cathay and they are much more generous when it comes to upgrades especially for One world platinum. Plus Cathay 1st class lounge not to be sneezed at. Much much better than Singapore Kris Business lounge. Obviously the only compelling reason to choose Singapore Airlines is biz class one way as Cathay premium economy is nothing special. I would take a gamble and go Csthay and hope for at least 1 upgrade.

Are you One World or Star Alliance? Which one do you need 60sc for Platinum?

They seem to be super expensive. I've tried from multiple cities and am happy flying into Sydney or Melbourne as well. If you spot anything, let me know! Thanks

Pretty overwhelming majority for the business class. My last couple of SQ experiences havent been great but I guess at the end of the day the value is lie flat, which is always nice!

So, I did vote for the Singapore option but having now read the thread, I would ask what time of year are you flying? And hence how busy would the flight be and therefore what chances of upgrade? All that said, I'd probably stick with Singapore for the guaranteed sectors in Business

Singapore Airlines are a lot better than Cathay in all aspects of flying.

Service meals aircraft so much better Cathay is like Qantas would be if they could be all promises but they never deliver on those promises.
