Does anyone have any news of when we could realistaexpect to see GE available for Australian passport holders?
I can’t wait for this, particularly when travelling within and out of the US for expedited clearance through security.... it will quite literally be a game changer.
I’m Green Card with AUST Passport, got Global Entry about 4 months ago, it is literally a game changer, through immigration on arrival to the US in less than 10 mins usually, and the TSA Precheck part gets you through domestic security easily, no removing shoes, belts, laptops, iPads, liquids etc.
It may be worthwhile writing or meeting with your Federal MP to see if they will take this up further and faster? I will do this myself next week when i'm meeting with my MP
By the way, neither Qantas nor Virgin Australia nor Air New Zealand participate in TSA-Pre, so even American and British passengers with Global Entry have to queue for ordinary security at LAX and SFO and DFW and HNL like everybody else.
Even if you have Global Entry, the only way you get expedited security upon departure when flying to Australia is if you fly Delta, Hawaiian or United.
By the way, neither Qantas nor Virgin Australia nor Air New Zealand participate in TSA-Pre, so even American and British passengers with Global Entry have to queue for ordinary security at LAX and SFO and DFW and HNL like everybody else.

I suspect it's something Qantas, VA and AirNZ would look at more closely if regular Australian (and NZ) passport holders could actually join the program. Until then, there'd be little reason for the airlines to invest money on the IT side to make things slightly easier for a small number of overseas-based passengers, versus their core market and loyalty base which would generally see no benefit (under the current arrangements).
However, as with other changes to the travel experience such as onboard domestic WiFi, and being able to use your gadgets in flight mode during take-off, I'm sure there would be a solid race between Qantas and Virgin to be the first to announce (and introduce) support for TSA-Pre, should the USA make Global Entry available to Australian passport holders!

I’m not sure this is true. My understanding is that you can get TSA Pre through one of two ways: actively registering for it or Global Entry, or passively through your airline. So if you have Global Entry, you should be able to use TSA Pre even if the airline doesn’t participate in the TSA program.
That said, while I have Global Entry, I only ever fly United out of the U.S., so I haven’t tested this myself. Anyone else know?

If you think about it, we are discussing flights departing US ports which carry large numbers of US citizens with Global Entry.
And yet still QF, VA and NZ don’t invest in participating in TSA-Pre to give the most frequent flyers expedited security.
I am sceptical that this would change if Aussie and Kiwi passengers became eligible for Global Entry.
Bear in mind that to get Global Entry I had to pay $100 for a UK Police Check, $200 to apply for Global Entry and then I had to attend an interview at LAX which could only be booked 12 weeks in advance. How many Aussie passengers would have the time and the motivation to do that?
I have Global Entry via my British passport and an APEC card via my Kiwi passport.
Both are similar for arrival at passport control and for rapid clearance through customs.
But Global Entry also gives TSA-Pre expedited airport security, and that is fantastic!

I’m not sure this is true. My understanding is that you can get TSA Pre through one of two ways: actively registering for it or Global Entry, or passively through your airline. So if you have Global Entry, you should be able to use TSA Pre even if the airline doesn’t participate in the TSA program.

OOLflyer is correct. I have Global Entry but TSA-pre doesn’t work leaving USA if flying Air NZ (I have from SFO and LAX many times).
