Does anyone give consideration to which side of the aircraft they sit when say flying north from AUS to SE Asia during the daytime? If given the choice, would you pick 4A or 4K on the QF A330-300’s?
I go 4A as I like to see the last rays of sunsets as the sun goes down, if my flight were to depart Australia lunch time to get to Singapore or Bangkok after 8pm.
Most don't like the sun and will pull the window shades down.
If you don't like the sun go 4K, the plane will make turns on the runways and the then depart north, most of the trip so the sun will usually be on side A.
You can take a look at FlightAware to see direction of past 13 days flight if you know the QF flight number.
The crew generally encourage you to pull the shades down so doesn't make much of a difference from my experience
The thought was probably based more on heat load vs. daylight. I’ve had some “hot” flights when sitting on the “A” side of the aircraft (but on the day I’m travelling there’s better seating options on the “A” side...
I usually don't like the sun on these flights, I use to put myself in 4K to avoid the sun but found usually the person on the other side of the aircraft leaves the window open causing me to still have sun in my face. Also certain parts of the flight due to the angle its even more on me then the person in the window seat. So now I put myself in "A" next to the window so I can just keep the blind closed.

Also depends on clouds if plane is flying low under clouds for some time, for some reason during flight.
