Poll: Qantas Airbus A380 first class vs Boeing 787 business class

Hands down would choose the A380 first if considering the hard product only. So much more space and openness in that seat and the bedding it wider and much more comfortable. The Dreamliner does have a better entertainment screen, however depending on when you travel you may be get a refreshed A380 for which one of the only First updates is a better screen. Also, would gain access to the F lounge in Melbourne (if you're not a Platinum).

No doubt whatsoever. A380 First. Heaps more space, and very comfortable - with outstanding bedding.

The only downside with the A380 in First is that until after take-off and once they begin preparing for descent, the chair has to face directly forwards and there's very little legroom in this space (versus the 787 where the seat doesn't swivel, so you can always put your feet forwards as far as you can). That said, the A380 suite overall is much more spacious, so the A380 gets my vote.

There’s been about 25% of votes for the 787 business seat. I’d be curious to hear from one of the people who voted for that their reasoning since it seems to otherwise be a large majority saying the first class seat is better.

Based on recent experience the A380 F all the way. Did both the 787 and 380 in November - QF9 in J and returned on QF2 in F.

If you can access the F lounge irrespective of the ticket you purchase (you are P or P1) then I would choose the 787. Overall, it has a nicer feel to it, albeit a little less room. But as they say, ask a 100 people for an opinion and you get 100 opinions ……...

Is it really worthy of a poll?

The real issue with the 787 is when fully flat your legs are rather confined in a narrow-ish leg well that goes under the seat in front. Makes curling up tricky.

I think it depends on your height. I’m 6’4”, my wife is 5’1”. I really appreciate the extra room in F, she couldn’t care less about that.

Having just done A380 F to LAX and the B787 in J to NYC. I found the B787 to be cramped and narrow compared to F. The hard and soft product is by far superior in F.

I would only choose J if I was limited by points (or money) and wanting to save some for another trip. However if you have a stack of points as you said you do or if you were limited by time and can’t do 2x J trips vs 1x F trips then yeah go F

What about the value for points proposition? I know the OP said they have plenty, but surely it's a consideration?
