Hi All,

Looking for any feedback on flying Air Baltic? Most online reviews are very negative. I'm only looking at a short f;light with no transfer from St. Petersburg to Riga and hoping it can't be too bad? Any first hand experiences regarding hidden protocols/reliability very welcome as the next best option is a stopover in Helsinki with the more reliable Finnair.

Flew them a few years back from Riga to Paris - was perfectly fine.

Flew them as well a few times, on-time and no issues. Hand luggage was never weighed, but could be, though I believe the limits are on par with most carriers in Oz anyway.

Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from. They have a nice new fleet of A220s (previously C-Series) and were the most punctual airline in Europe last year.

For a point to point, you will be fine.

Have flown with them only twice, Berlin-Riga and Riga-Stockholm. Flights, aircraft and cabin crew were absolutely fine - bog standard modern airline. On time both flights.
Pre-flight a bit chaotic. Berlin-Riga flight had a number of aircraft changes in the week before, including at one stage to a charter airline (Carpatair) which run a very old Fokker100. Thankfully it changed again last minute to a modern Air Baltic aircraft. Riga airport wasn't exactly a highlight - staff a bit dour.

PS having said that, I love Helsinki, and would never pass up the possibility of a visit!

They're more than fine. Have flown them a few times over the years including tight connections and had 0 problems. Would definitely take them over a stopover in Helsinki.

Reporting back on this - flew them this morning St Petersburg-Riga. Absolutely fine. Left on time and arrived early. Was even upgraded equipment from Q400 to the new Airbus A200-300 which was very impressive and smooth. Had lots of room in economy for the 2-3 layout. Could definitely be one for QF to look out for in replacing 717s.
