I would really appreciate it if ET would approach Qatar Airways and ask them why they have little to no regard towards non Qatar Airways senior tier oneworld FF's flying with them. Let's start with the arrogant and rude Sydney Airport based staff. Is it a directive from Al Bakr esp towards QF and perhaps AA FF's?

I flew QR MUC-DOH-PEK last week, I'm Qantas Platinum which I only mention because you specifically ask about treatment of QFFs. I think their service was up to standard - in fact the DOH-PEK leg was the best I've got on QR (and far better than I've ever got on BA!). I flew with two large carry on, and they didn't blink at bending the rules for that.

Could you be specific on what treatment you felt was below par?

Yes Joe, ET will reach out to QT to ask, “why were u mean to Joe?”

Also apparently it is a directive from Al Bakr, “Give sass back to the QF Gold member, who demanded a free upgrade at the counter”.

Just my experience. I'm QFF platinum and always fly Qatar to Europe. My last trip I missed the connection to Perth, I was looked after very well and then upgraded to first for the flight home the next day. My status was recognised every step of the way.

Hi Joe, we're unable to assist with specific reader complaints against travel providers. If you have a concern to raise with an airline, you'll need to raise it directly with the airline.

All Jokes and Joe's aside, it is unfortunate that Qatar doesn't recognise status in the same way other Oneworld airlines do. I'd fly with them on some legs but choose not to due to their lounge policies.

Commercial decision by them, commercial decision by me - no hard feelings.

Last year I did an around the world flight and this included QR. One sector was Havana/Mexico City/Dallas/Doha/Amman/Istanbul. From Mexico City I flew AA to Dallas then QR to Doha, baggage was tagged, but was told to check in Doha, of course AA forgot to transfer. I contacted QR in Doha and they traced it to Dallas. I followed up again in Istanbul and they could not do enough to organise my baggage which turned up 2 days later. I have flown many times on QR and have always been treated with respect.

I don't know if platinum made the difference, but QR went out of their way to help me when AA were not even interested.

To be fair to AA, it wasn't their responsibility to locate the missing luggage, rather QR's being the most significant carrier on that leg hence AA's lack of interest. QR were obliged to locate and return the luggage to you.

QR are OK in the air but not so on the ground. The "status only" lounges are very poor cousins to the "ticketed" lounges. The QR emerald lounge (first class lounge for non-first passengers) is a mid level biz class lounge. The saphire level lounge is on par with a crappy Priority Pass lounge. Nothing compared to a CX Pier or QF Sydney First Class lounge for emerald status flyers

Having just flown through Doha twice I have to agree. No signage for Emerald check in. Check in staff could not tell you which lounge to use or where it was no priority immigration no priority bag tags unless you ask for them. Good in the air with great recognition but woeful on the ground and in Doha. I had no requests from them either time.
