Does anyone know when the next refurbished A380 is supposed to take to the skies?

Is it expected that 3 will be done before the Christmas break? (End Sept, End Oct? End Nov?)

I just read in a blog somewhere that it's meant to be 4 by the end of the year. Seems to be on track as the 3rd just went in and the 2nd one only took 3weeks. Hoping it is 4 as that 1/3 chance on QF17 for me on 20/12/19.

Suspect it may only be 2 by end of year with a typical break from refurb maintenance over Dec/Jan due to demand from school holidays

VH-OQL which just left DRS after 3 weeks does not appear to have been refurbed. Business seat maps show 2x2x2.

VH-OQH was nominated some weeks ago on another forum as the next to be refurbed and has just flown to DRS.

Thanks Guys.

@moa999, think the QF7 to DFW flight is leaving tomorrow, 25th with the new config, which would mean thats 2 done... only 10 to go!

Unfortunately @pab2025 it would appear that you are wrong. VH-OQL operated QF7 yesterday with a 2-2-2 J config. This probably means that VH-OQK will operate the flight today. So there are still 11 to go, as mentioned OQH will be the next.

@pab2025 Looks like VH-OQK is operating that flight, first time it's been to DFW since refurb

That flight will be very full as they left 100 behind who didn't make the connection due to bad weather in DFW, on today's flight I was on. Presumably they will be on the refurbed plane. Pity I missed it as I got an upgrade as it happens.

Does anyone have any feedback on the 'first' service post refurb....is it still a pencil case amenity kit with average business class amenities?

The lavs ...still essentially economy class just slightly larger?

Is menu still a business class standard and is the TV screen just higher res or is it also actually larger?

Thanks in advance.

Joe check the announcements at the time but as I recall the screens are a tad larger the same as the A330.

Per the review on this site it's now a 16" Full HD screen, up from 12" HD.

Don't think any changes to the business lavs, amenity kits or menus

Refurbs are done in DRS so OQL would have been done, I suspect the seat map on the QF site just hasn't been updated to add OQL to the list yet.

Dresden also does general maintenance. Both OQE and OQG spent 3-4 weeks there earlier in the year with no refurb.

QF is actually very good about updating the website seatmaps, but the ones I refer to are from ExpertFlyer which uses GDS booking data, so 90% certain that OQL hasn't been refurbed.

Any one know if they will put the refurb on Q35 Mel-Sin anytime soon, or will this be a later priority ?

I saw it confirmed elsewhere that OQL was just having maintenance. What type, not sure.

Hi Moa

I'm more interested to learn about 'first' lavs etc. I know the J offering is at least standard best practice albeit outdone by Qatar J. I'm happy J gets back all its lavs too! Anyone have any pics or reports about refurb 'first' dining menu, amenity kits, lavs etc?
