So finally after 7 failed attempts for an exemption i received confirmation that i have been classed as EXEMPT !!!!

So now i can fly home to Thailand to see the sick wife. One hurdle down ...so

Does anyone know where i can find information on what flights are actually leaving Perth or anywhere in Australia for Thailand?

And so many more questions about what if i need to travel to say Victoria for a flight to Thailand? Need to quarantine in Victoria if coming from Perth? I understand what i am required to do on my return some three months later regarding my more than llikely quarantine of 14 days.

People KEEP TRYING!!!!! DO NOT GIVE UP As the border force people are waking up to this fiasco of closed borders also.

Hopefully you all get to see your loved ones soon.

And hopefully someone can give me some information so i can jump another hurdle on my way home.

Khop khun krup (Thanks)

You are making a big assumption that you will be able to come back to Australia in 3 months. I hope you have deep pockets!

You won't be able to go AU-BKK so you've got to find an airline that will get you out of Australia and into Thailand like SQ, QR or EK. I think MU are doing pax flights to SYD too.

You can only fly to Thailand on government sponsored repatriation flights. You have to apply through the Thai embassy in Canberra or Sydney for a certificate of entry. You will need to organize your own alternative state quarantine, and you have to show health insurance providing a minimum of US$100,000 Covid insurance. Repatriation flights have been running about every 2 weeks out of Sydney, and the odd one from Melbourne.

Souths70 thanks for that info and yes that's what i thought regarding the flights if i was to go now with a closed Thai Border. However there will be a new STV shortly for entry into Thailand. Have the insurance and understand the quarantine procedure being a FIFO worker.

Thanks for your helpful reply to my question ratrace. Maybe you could impart some of your positive wisdom upon me then in regards to your more than helpful positive comment pertaining to my big assumption of being able to re-enter Australia after 3 months ?

There is an expensive repatriation flight run by Emirates EK2510 from SYD several times a week. You can read about the special tourist visa for Thailand here https://loyaltylobby.com/2020/09/25/its-now-possible-to-apply-for-thailands-special-tourist-visa-program-through-a-disastrous-process/ It looks like an expensive option to get to Thailand and getting a non-immigrant O (spouse) visa could be easier. On the bright side there are now 70 hotels offering alternative state quarantine packages, from Ibis to Shangrila and everything in between https://thaiest.com/blog/list-of-alternative-state-quarantine-asq-hotels-thailand. Cost ranges 28000-220000THB for the 15 day package including meals. Don't forget to apply for your permission to reenter Australia and confirm it before you leave!

There is flight run by Emirates EK2510 from SYD-BKK several times a week. You can read about the special tourist visa and decide whether a non-immigrant O (spouse) visa might be easier and better. There's a recent review over at Loyalty Lobby. As for alternative state quarantine options there are 70 hotels ranging from budget to luxury options from 28000-220000THB for the 14 day package. Check the list that is updated regularly at the Thaiest website

Have you applied for the COE yet? I don't understand why it is asking to upload a copy of the booking flight ticket when it says "approved applicants are permitted to enter Thailand only by repatriation flights or cargo flights organised by the Royal Thai Embassy or the Royal Thai Consulate-General".

So do I have to find my own flight, or apply for the COE without providing the booking flight ticket.

Very hard to find proper information.

Also, will we have to apply for a visa coming from Australia? When previously we used to get a visa on arrival?

Hi everyone, just seeing this thread.

After many blunders, I now have an exemption to see my daughter.

I had to book my flight with Canberra Thai embassy.

I’m in Melbourne. The trouble is, my flight came through as leaving from Sydney. I can’t afford to get up there so will have to change the flight through the embassy.

Does anyone know about how many flights through the embassy go from melbourne? Not hardly as many it seems.

Thanks for reading :)
