Concorde auction: score some supersonic swag for your office or home

You may never have flown in the revolutionary Concorde, but here's a chance to bring a bit of the supersonic bird into your life as a piece of bragworthy bric-a-brac for your office or home.

"What's this?" asks a visitor.

"Oh, that's just the machmeter from a Concorde, a little something I picked up in France " you reply with practised nonchalance.

If you're not quite into instrumentation, your conversation piece could be a dining plate by French designer Andrée Putman from which celebrities may (or may not) have tucked into five-star fare on the three hour ride between London and New York – or you could even showcase the menu itself.

Too subtle? You could always showcase this unique wooden model of the aircraft autographed by André Turcat, Concorde's very first pilot.

They're some of the curios coming under the hammer at a rare sale of "Concorde collector's parts" across November 3-5 in Toulouse.

Auction house Marc Labarbe expects the menu to sell at around €50-80, while those dinner plates could go for up to €300, "while the most daring will purchase a pair of seats, a tyre or a washbasin from Concorde."

But if you've got your heart set on a machmeter which regularly clipped past Mach 2, that could set you back €10,000.

Fortunately, you don't need to fly to France to bid: Marc Labarbe will take orders online and over the phone.

i do have a framed and mounted Concorde turbine blade from one of their Rolls Royce Olympus engines, signed by Captain Mike Bannister. Would be intersted what that might be worth?

I've still got my Concorde kit that they used to give the passengers onboard.

A once in a lifetime experience I still remember to this day.  Flew New York to London back in the 80's.
