Sitting on a pile of ANZ reward points earned from an ANZ Rewards Black, ANZ Rewards Platinum, ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures or entry-level ANZ Rewards classic credit card?

Convert them into Virgin Australia Velocity Frequent Flyer points this month and you’ll pick up a staggering 50% bonus on the entire sum transferred!

Normally, every two ANZ reward points you ship across fetches one Velocity point – but with this 50% bonus in play, those same two ANZ reward points are equal to a higher 1.5 Velocity points.

For instance, converting 100,000 ANZ reward points into Velocity points normally lands 50,000 frequent flyer points in your account – but make your transfer this month and you’ll receive 75,000 Velocity points instead with that 50% bonus!

This bonus applies to both manual and automatic points conversions from ANZ Rewards to Velocity, and can even be used to boost your Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer balance, as Velocity points can subsequently be converted directly into KrisFlyer miles.

It works like this: instead of converting your ANZ reward points directly into Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles, convert them into Velocity points first – earning that sweet 50% bonus throughout the month of May – and then convert those Velocity points onwards to KrisFlyer miles.

For example, take those same 100,000 ANZ reward points and convert them over to Velocity this month and you’d receive 75,000 Velocity points. Those Velocity points can then be converted into KrisFlyer miles at a 1.35:1 rate, which leaves you with 55,555 KrisFlyer miles at the end of the day.

If you instead converted your ANZ reward points straight across to KrisFlyer you’d receive only 33,333 KrisFlyer miles, as ANZ applies a less-generous 3:1 conversion rate to these transfers than the 2:1 rate used for Velocity.

Taking this extra step allows you to boost your frequent flyer haul by over 65% when aiming for Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles, or a still-impressive 50% when earning Virgin Australia Velocity points!

Most other credit cards in the Australian market are also offering bonus points on conversions to Velocity this month, but with much lower bonuses of 15-25%.

ANZ (personal) reward points are exclusive to the ANZ Rewards Black, ANZ Rewards Platinum, ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures and ANZ Rewards classic credit cards.
