Emirates' new first class suites: what we know so far

Qantas partner Emirates' will reveal its new Boeing 777-300ER first class suites on November 12 – the opening day of the Dubai Airshow – following competitor Singapore Airlines' relaunch of its own Airbus A380 first class cribs last week.

Latest: we've now got a first glimpse of Emirates' new Boeing 777-300ER first class suites – click here for the full story!

The Gulf carrier will be replacing its current Boeing 777 first class suites, shown below...

... with what Emirates President Sir Tim Clark has previously teased as resembling “a private bedroom on a luxury yacht.”

Expect a similar take on the suite's design as seen on Emirates’ new Airbus A380 inflight bar...

… where a lighter, more contemporary colour scheme swaps heavy brass and faux 'burled walnut' for champagne gold and more subtle woodgrains.

Clark promises the new-look suites will "take our onboard experience to the next level," and the design could also offer some clues as to the shape of the airline's second-generation Airbus A380 suites when that inevitable refresh rolls around.

The new Boeing 777 first class cabin will sport only six suites compared to eight onboard today’s Boeing 777s, and adopt a 1-1-1 layout compared to the current 1-2-1 scheme, as illustrated by seating charts loaded into the airline's booking system (which also indicate the centre 1E suite being accessed from the left aisle, and suite 2F via the right aisle).

Emirates' swish new suites will take to the skies from December 1 2017 on two of the airline’s latest Boeing 777 jets flying to Brussels and Geneva.

The flights to book, if those cities are on your travel schedule: EK183 from Dubai to Brussels (the daily morning departure) and the mid-afternoon EK184 on the return journey; and EK83 from Dubai to Geneva (the daily afternoon flight), and EK84, which pushes back in Geneva mid-evening.

In Australia, Emirates currently offers Boeing 777-300ER flights from Brisbane to Dubai via Singapore (in addition to the daily non-stop Airbus A380 service) and from Adelaide to Dubai. One daily Melbourne-Dubai flight also uses this Boeing 777 jet, but will move to an A380 from March 25 2018.

It’s not yet known when Emirates’ new first class suite will appear in Australian skies, or whether the airline’s Boeing 777-200LR jets – which will introduce a third-daily Brisbane-Dubai service from December 2017 and currently appear on one daily Perth-Dubai flight – will eventually sport the new cabin as well.

Australian Business Traveller will attend Dubai Airshow as a guest of Emirates, where we’ll venture onboard one of the airline’s Boeing 777 jets to experience the new first class seat, before commercial passengers get their first chance next month.

Do we know if the entire B777-300ER fleet will be retrofitted to include this new seat (as well as the most recent version of the Business class seat that was introduced not too long ago)?

It's one of the things we'll be asking at the Dubai Airshow. (You can be confident that if we had that information, it'd be in the article.)

Nonetheless, it's a fair question.

Looking forward to the AusBT being on the ground at the airshow next week.

I don't think they will (for now), since many of the 77Ws are on their way out.

Hope Qantas refurbishes their A380’s sooner rather than later. They need to remain competitive considering all these airlines coming up with these new seats.

Qantas can’t “remain” competitive in F when they aren’t competitive now.

Clarke says it would take our onboard experience to the next level. Wish they also did that with their J, I cant stand the 2-3-2.

No Tom.. Emirates only recently unveiled a new biz class seat which retains the gwad awful 2-3-2 seating. Although at least now they are fully flat and not angled.
