Passengers departing Beijing’s Capital Airport on SkyTeam international flights can soon relax in a new SkyTeam-branded lounge, set to open in the coming weeks.
A significant notch above what you’d normally expect to find in a Chinese airport, the facility offers seating for up to 160 guests with plenty of natural light and dedicated areas for both working and relaxing.
Most seats also provide easy access to USB and AC power, with Australian-style plugs able to be connected without a separate adaptor: as is common across China.
Complimentary wireless Internet also comes standard, alongside a business area with computer terminals for travellers lacking their own tech and shower facilities with towels and toiletries provided for a pre-flight freshen up.
From the buffet, a selection of hot and cold Chinese and international food throughout the day plus self-serve beverages including premium-label beers and spirits, joined by a separate wine bar where travellers can socialise...
... but with a more conventional dining room at the ready, too.
Travellers can retreat to a dedicated TV room, while a secluded VIP area is available to eligible high flyers for added privacy.
The lounge proper will welcome business and first class passengers travelling internationally with a SkyTeam alliance airline, along with SkyTeam Elite Plus frequent flyers stuck in economy on the same.
Beijing is served by 12 SkyTeam airlines which will share the lounge, including Aeroflot, Air France, Alitalia, China Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, Delta, Garuda Indonesia, KLM, Korean Air, Vietnam Airlines and Xiamen Air.
However, note that passengers on China Eastern's Beijing-Nanjing-Sydney flights depart Beijing from the terminal's domestic area – instead clearing outbound passport control in Nanjing – and therefore cannot access this lounge.

Pity this lounge is located in Beijing Airport's crappiest terminal 2, where almost all skyteam flight depart from (excluding China Airlines).

Erm, just a thought, but it's probably best that the Skyteam lounge is located in the terminal that the Skyteam airlines actually depart from. Putting it anywhere else would be pretty daft!

Nice and spacious, not a typical colour palette for China. Would have been nice to see a few nods to the host city and country or even some super lovely water feature. Oh and with being "stuck" in economy yet to have glue on the seat, rather must travel in the means which allow the project to get delivered and the meetings to be held.
