Hotel Fort Canning opens in Singapore

Singapore's newest hotel continues the trend towards upscale boutique properties favoured by an increasing number of business travellers.

With 86 individually-styled suites and rooms spread across three floors, the Hotel Fort Canning is a revitalisation of a majestic 1926 colonial building (which served as HQ for the British Far East Command during World War II) tucked away in Fort Canning Park off Stamford Road.

This location puts the hotel almost equidistant between Singapore's commercial districts of City Hall and Raffles Place, the leisure and dining precincts of Boat Quay and Clarke Quay and the downtown shopping belt of Orchard Road.

Each room comes with free broadband Internet (also available in the lobby through a free wi-fi hotspot), flat high-def TV screens and a pillow menu.
