How to earn Virgin Australia Velocity Points at 7-Eleven

With the points-earning partnership between 7-Eleven and Velocity Frequent Flyer taking off, shoppers and motorists can now earn Velocity Points on in-store buys at 7-Eleven, as well as fuel purchases.

On retail items, 7-Eleven provides two Velocity Points per dollar spent (except on purchases like gift cards, mobile recharge, tobacco, etc.), while on fuel, you’ll pump out two Velocity Points per litre of premium (95/98) fuels, and one Velocity Point per litre on regular fuels.

That’s on top of any frequent flyer points gained by paying for those same purchases using a points-earning credit card, allowing you to double-dip on rewards and get flying sooner.

Make your first eligible purchase at 7-Eleven by June 28 2021, and you'll also get 711 bonus Velocity Points.

Here are the steps you need to follow to start earning Velocity Points with 7-Eleven.

Step 1: Download the My 7-Eleven app

To get started, download and install the My 7-Eleven app from the Apple App Store (for iOS) or Google Play (for Android).

If you already have the My 7-Eleven app installed, make sure it’s the latest version – as only the latest update supports Velocity Frequent Flyer functionality.

Step 2: Create a My 7-Eleven account

Using the My 7-Eleven app requires a My 7-Eleven account.

If you’ve previously created a profile, simply login – otherwise, follow the prompts to sign up when first launching the app.

Creating a My 7-Eleven account is free.

Once your My 7-Eleven app and account are set up, venture to the Settings tab, then click on the Velocity Frequent Flyer logo:

On the next screen, click “Link Velocity & My 7-Eleven”.

This opens a browser window, where you’ll be prompted to log into your Velocity Frequent Flyer account.

After logging in, authorise the link, and you’re done.

You can confirm that your My 7-Eleven and Velocity accounts remain linked by clicking Velocity on the app’s main settings tab, where your frequent flyer number will now appear:

Step 4: Scan your digital My 7-Eleven card to earn points

The next time you make a purchase at 7-Eleven – whether that’s fuel, in-store buys, or a combination of both – open your My 7-Eleven app, click “My Card” at the top right, and scan the barcode provided at the checkout, before you pay.

This screen also reminds that your Velocity Frequent Flyer number is linked, and any Velocity Points earned will be credited to your Velocity Frequent Flyer account within 24 hours of each purchase.

Note, while 7-Eleven outlets in Western Australia allow members to simply scan their Velocity Frequent Flyer membership card to earn points (including the digital card barcode), this functionality has not yet been rolled out across Australia.

Members in other states and territories will need to follow the My 7-Eleven path as above, scanning the barcode provided via the My 7-Eleven app to earn Velocity Points.
