Hyatt continues to expand in China with the opening of the Hyatt Regency Xi’an hotel in the Shaanxi provincial capital, with a modern design that gives nods to tradition in one of China’s oldest cities.
Inspired primarily by China’s Tang Dynasty, guests will appreciate a sprawling layout built around a grand lobby and a front entrance illuminated by a sea of fiery torches, paying respect to days when Xi’an served as the gateway between China and the rest of the world through the Silk Road.
Small touches like art installations throughout and inscribed number plates on the doors of its 298 guestrooms also enforce tradition design within this otherwise-modern hotel, situated 45 minutes by car from Xi’an Xianyang International Airport.
Modern features aren’t forgotten, however, with 48-inch TVs, in-room working desks, large walk-in closets, high-speed wireless Internet and mobile phone docking stations for easy recharging.
Guests staying on the Club floors and in the hotel’s suites also enjoy access to the Regency Club lounge, serving complimentary breakfast in the mornings and happy hour drinks in the evenings and playing home to meeting rooms and other business services.
Dining options here are many with The Lounge serving up light snacks, coffee and Champagne; Market Café taking hold as the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant and Hu Pan offering authentic fare from around China, including both Xi’an specialties and favourites like Peking duck:
Also on-site for use in your downtime: a ‘FLO Spa’, a glass-walled fitness centre with a separate yoga room and a large indoor heated pool with day beds and a dedicated bar to the side.
Guests at this hotel can earn and redeem points through the Hyatt Gold Passport loyalty program, with Xi’an a non-stop flight away from Sydney when Hainan Airlines launches twice-weekly flights in September.

Honestly this hotel looks stunning - would love to go but can't think of why I would want to go to Xi'an as of now.
