New InterContinental hotel to open in Southwest Washington, D.C.

Southwest Washington D.C. will play home to a new InterContinental hotel, expected to open in mid-2017.

The 278-room property is currently under construction as part of ‘The Wharf’ – a larger project with mixed-use buildings located on the historic Washington Channel.

Complementing the existing Willard InterContinental hotel in Washington D.C., the Southwest Washington property will boast a signature restaurant, a spa and roughly 1,600 square metres of meeting space.

Also on the drawing board is a rooftop pool and bar, along with a Sky View Lounge with views of D.C. and the waterfront.

The property will take its design cues from the contemporary InterContinental New York Times Square and InterContinental San Francisco hotels.

Members of IHG Rewards Club will be able to earn and redeem points at the InterContinental Southwest Washington D.C. hotel, while Royal Ambassador members will enjoy their usual perks such as guaranteed room upgrades and free drinks from the in-room mini-bar.
