Emirates Skywards status now extended to 2022

With the coronavirus about to enter its second year of crimping global travel and grounding frequent flyers, Emirates has joined the ranks of airlines rolling out an additional 12 months of free status to cover the shortfall in trips taken and miles earned.

All Emirates Skywards members with a renewal date in 2021 will now enjoy an extra year of gratis status.

  • Emirates Skywards Silver and Gold members with a tier review date prior to 31 December 2021, will have their current tier status extended by an additional 12 months
  • Emirates Skywards Platinum members with a tier review date prior to 31 December 2021, will also have their current tier status extended by 12 months, in addition to the Gold status of any nominee

For example, if your current tier review date is March 31 2021, that'll now be pushed out to March 31 2022.

In addition, Emirates is further extending the validity of any Skywards Miles due to expire since April 2020 until 30 June 2021.

The airline says it will also "be rolling out more initiatives throughout the year to help members retain tier status, or fast-track to a higher tier status."

These are expected to include bonus tier miles, complimentary tier upgrades and "paid tier opportunities".
