Hilton Honors status extension to March 2023

All Silver, Gold and Diamond members gain a further extension to their Hilton status, even if they haven't recently hit the road.

Hilton Honors is rolling out a third round of status extensions, benefiting members across the globe – even those who haven't travelled since the last extension landed in their account.

All Hilton Honors members will have their current status carried forward until March 31 2023.

This includes members who may have expected to lose their status in early 2022, by failing to reach the normally-required number of qualifying nights, stays or Base Points.

Travelling throughout 2022 can also help push that status even further forward into 2024, by reaching the following requirements by December 31 2022:

  • Hilton Honors Silver: Complete 3 stays, 7 nights, or earn 17,500 Base Points
  • Hilton Honors Gold: Notch up 14 stays, 28 nights, or 52,500 Base Points
  • Hilton Honors Diamond: Make 21 stays, spend 42 nights, or earn 84,000 Base Points

The requirements above apply both to members retaining their existing tier, and travellers hoping to move up to the next level.

To help with either goal, all 'nights' earned by Hilton Honors members throughout 2021 will have those carried forwards into 2022 – so if you've earned 10 nights this year, you'll start 2022 with 10 in the bank.

More fresh benefits for Hilton Honors members

The expiry of all Hilton Honors points is also being pushed to at least December 31 2022, ensuring those who haven't travelled recently don't lose their rewards.

Normally, Hilton Honors points expire when the member hasn't earned or spent points in the previous 12 months.

Speaking of points, if you reach 30 nights each year, you'll earn 10,000 bonus points – plus 10,000 points more after every 10 subsequent nights, as your Hilton Milestone Bonus.

The chain's most frequently-travelled members can also continue gifting Gold or Diamond status to a friend or family member, but with slightly higher requirements than in 2021.

From 2022, road warriors who reach 40 nights (previously 30) can gift Hilton Honors Gold.

Those who hit 70 nights in a single year will upgrade that companion status to Diamond (previously 60 nights).

These requirements are still below the normal thresholds, with Gold normally gifted after 60 nights, and Diamond after 100 nights.

Once again well done Hilton, first off the line again, the rest will now probably and reluctantly follow but I will remember Hilton for understanding loyalty.

One less thing to worry about.  Hilton really has been great during the pandemic.  Accor at the complete other end of the scale has really shown their true colours.

Totally agree.  I have both Accor and Hilton Diamond, and I'm only going to be focusing on Hilton until Accor gets their act together

Great to see, the same seems to be true (Airlines wise) for Velocity and Cathay Pacific Members, plsed to see both extending time on elite tiers. Was less impressed by IHG and had pursue them to do the right thing !

The day after receiving word from Hilton about the status extension I got an email from Accor saying that I could prevent my 10,000 points (200 euros worth) expiring in mid-December by booking and completing a stay prior to this date. As someone that is under lockdown, I can't comprehend what planet the Accor executives are living on. They are doing so much damage to their brand that I don't think I will ever have a favourable opinion of Accor again.
