Singapore has no shortage of high-end hotels, from the iconic to those in prime position for the F1 but that isn’t stopping The Standard from adding The Red Dot to its growing network.

Originally tipped to open this year, the brand’s Singaporean debut will now take place in the latter half of 2024, with a spokesperson for the hotel confirming a target of Q3.

Executive Traveller readers may already be familiar with The Standard New York, Los Angeles and London, as well as recent Southeast Asian arrivals in Hua Hin and Bangkok, each of which targets a design-savvy clientele.

The new Singaporean outpost rises on Orange Grove Road, across from the Shangri-La Singapore and at the heart of a triangle formed by the Botanic Gardens, Newton Circus hawker centre and the start of the Orchard Road shopping strip – each of which represents a core part of the Singapore experience.

With 143 rooms, the hotel will be crowned by the now-mandatory infinity pool and pool bar, albeit one set within a lush botanical courtyard, and also house a fitness centre plus array of cultural and art programmes.

Amar Lalvani, Executive Chairman of Standard International, previously said “Singapore has emerged into an incredibly important and innovative hub in Asia and we couldn't be more excited about this development,” adding praise for the “culturally rich and dynamic city.”

Closer to home, Australia will soon welcome its first Standard hotel, with The StandardX Melbourne slated to unlock its doors in trendy Fitzroy next year.

A new brand for The Standard – a group known for its vintage-styled hotels in Miami, Hollywood and Ibiza, to name a few – The StandardX is inspired by the artistic roots of its location and imbued with ‘the rebellious spirit of the 70s and 80s’.

Designed by Woods Bagot, the Rose Street hotel will offer 125 rooms over seven levels, with interiors created in collaboration with The Standard and Melbourne firm Hecker Guthrie.
