Last chance: earn 30% more Velocity Points on credit card transfers

Virgin Australia’s hugely popular points transfer bonus promotion wraps up in just a few days, on May 31 – and with Velocity Points redemption on top international airlines now active, circling the date for your next holiday or upgrade to the pointy end could be just a few clicks away.

Until this Tuesday May 31, converting rewards points from a variety of participating credit cards and other loyalty programs into Velocity Points will net you a points bonus starting at 10% and going as high as 30%, depending which card you're using.

For the top bonus, you can earn a 30% points bonus by transferring from Citi Rewards, Bank of Queensland, Suncorp and Diners Club International.

Transfers from ANZ Rewards and ANZ Business Rewards will land you a solid 20% bonus.

Other participating banks including NAB, Westpac, St George, HSBC, BankSA and Bank of Melbourne will return a healthy 15% extra Velocity Points, which can still easily be the difference between flying and not flying, or getting that upgrade from economy to business class. Transfers from American Express will also yield a 15% bonus, with an extra 5% available for Centurion and certain elite card holders.

Rounding out the offer this month are transfers from Flybuys, which will still net you a 10% bonus points windfall.

Another way to look at it: the number of points needed to snare a flight on top international airlines such as Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada, Etihad Airways, Hawaiian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Qatar Airways and newest partner United Airlines will be reduced by between 10% and 30%.

Here's an example of how the numbers shake out.

Velocity Points to be converted per single eligible transaction

Add Bonus Velocity Points:

115,000 Velocity Points

Most of Australia’s major banks work with Virgin Australia's Velocity program – including ANZ, NAB, Westpac, as well as American Express – while Virgin Money also offers a Velocity-branded credit card.

This Velocity frequent flyer points bonus offer has been active for the entire month of May, so just make sure your transfer has been made by 31 May 2022.

Of course, these points are also redeemable on Virgin Australia’s new International flights to a range of leisure destinations in the coming months, with Fiji now available and Bali returning to the network from 15 June.

Velocity typically runs its Velocity transfer promotions in May and November every year, however the bonus levels can differ.
