That ‘new car’ smell’s got nothing on the delightful scent of a new plane, and this month Japan Airlines is rolling our four of ‘em – all fitted with a new design Sky Recliner seat in JAL’s Executive Class business cabins.
The planes are Boeing 767-300ERs which will run medium-haul legs from Japan to Singapore and Beijing, so if you’re doing a few OneWorld partner hops around Asia you could find yourself settling back into this airborne version of a plush sofa chair.
The Sky Recliner is based on JAL’s luxurious leather First Class domestic seat, so it’s a bit more like the older-style international business class bench.
Happily the time warp stops there: modern twists includes a 10.6 inch screen which can play video straight from your laptop or iPod or iPhone; an AC socket, privacy screens and bigger pockets for storing your digital carry-on cargo.
The seats have a pitch of 129.5cm (51 inches) and recline to 132 degrees rather than lie-flat mode. Cabin fitout is a standard horizontal 2-2-2.
