Cathay begins refurb on HK

Cathay Pacific and OneWorld passengers may do well to get familiar with the newly-opened Cabin lounge at Hong Kong airport as work begins on an extensive refurbishment of The Wing.

The refit to Cathay’s signature lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, located at the South Concourse above gates 1-4, will include “a significant increase in the number of showers in First and Business Class” according to Cathay’s Head of Product Alex McGowan. The Noodle Bar and The Haven quiet zone will also be expanded.

The Wing will remain open during the refurb, which McGowan says “is expected to take around 20 months. This will put further pressure on lounge space at peak times, making our investment in The Cabin all the more timely and important.”

Fortunately The Cabin is a short stroll away, between gates 21 and 23 – access is by stairs or lift near gate 23.

I hope they change the workstation desks in The Wing's First Class area, these things are shabby old beasts which really don't match the rest of the lounge. And my MacBook's power supply never sits properly in the AC sockets because of the way the sockets are fitted, does anyone else notice that? I have to stick a folded newspaper under the adaptor to keep it in place!
